Jim Thompson introduces ‘Ed Tuttle’s Collection’, designed exclusively for Jim Thompson by world-renowned architect Ed Tuttle. The new Jim Thompson Furniture Collection by Ed Tuttle beautifully embraces this approach to sympathetic, unified design. Tuttle’s talent lies in creating furniture that adapts well to different environments.

With the philosophy to create contemporary design that reflects local culture with great respect for the environment through the use of local materials, world-renowned architect Ed Tuttle, who is chiefly known for world-class projects he created for deluxe Amanresorts among others, now extends his collaboration with Jim Thompson with an exquisite line of furniture called “The Ed Tuttle Collection for Jim Thompson”. Noted for his hallmark of simple yet elegant design, the new line of furniture is comprised of Maia, Lite, Ciel, X and San collections.

Part of Tuttle’s philosophy is to create and design spaces that reflect the local culture of the countries in which the projects are constructed. Tuttle has a great respect for the environment and harmoniously uses local materials and techniques that are true to the contemporary architecture of the country. Tuttle’s work also demonstrates a grand sense of perspective and space; his preference for geometric forms is often evident and his style is clearly recognized in the perfect fusion between traditional and modern design.

Tuttle’s collaboration with Jim Thompson started in 2002 when he created a luxurious textile collection for Jim Thompson that was borne out of Tuttle’s need for fabrics with a decorative yet architectural feel. Tuttle's theme of understated simplicity and mixing of tradition and modernity is reflected in the Vendome, Rue de la Paix and Chenille Canvas collections that are used in his projects worldwide.

The collaboration now extends to an exquisite line of furniture; introducing collections Maia, Lite, Ciel, X and San. The simpler pieces suit a sleek contemporary interior yet — for those who prefer a more neutral style — the collection can look equally stylish in a more classical home. And while Tuttle’s pieces that pay homage to traditional silhouettes sit well in a classical interior, they also contrast stylishly with contemporary pieces in a comparatively modern environment. Each piece carries the hallmark of the designer so guided by geometric forms and sense of perspective.
